This young lady who had a severe childhood injury now has difficulty breathing through her nose. She would benefit hugely from a septorhinoplasty (nose job) which would improve both the function and look of her nose. Cosmetic rhinoplasties (nose jobs) are frequently performed by ENT surgeons
ENT Surgeons taking on facial plastic surgery is a world wide trend.
In fact, ENT Surgeons perform a significant proportion of Rhinoplasty surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery in the United Kingdom. This is likely because of the in depth training in both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the surgery involved, such as addressing nasal obstruction while doing a rhinoplasty or the assessment of hearing when working on prominent ears.
ENT Surgeons are highly trained professionals, taking an average of over 16 years of training from being a medical student to becoming a consultant. Facial Plastic Surgery is an integral part of our training. The final exam of our training, the Intercollegiate Fellowship Exam in Otolaryngology, is highly respected internationally, and Facial Plastic Surgery features strongly in the first and second parts of the exam.
Several of our members have gone even further and made Facial Plastic Surgery their subspeciality focus and seeked further training in the field by doing fellowships abroad. One example is the Fellowship of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery which includes sitting the American Board Exam in Facial Plastic Surgery via the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies.
